Your leave requests and balance

The Leave screen is every request you have made and what came of it. Your balances sit on the dashboard, one screen up.

See your requests

Choose Leave in the sidebar. My Applications lists them newest first: the type, the dates, the number of days, the status and the reason you gave.

The From and To boxes filter by start date, which is the quickest way to pull up a particular month. Clear puts the full list back.

What the statuses mean

Not Reviewed means it is sitting with your leave manager. Nothing has happened yet.

Approved means they said yes. Declined means they said no, and the reason they typed is on the row.

Cancelled means the request was withdrawn, either by you or on your behalf.

Change or cancel a request

While a request is still Not Reviewed, the row has an Edit on it. That reopens the form with your answers in it, and Update replaces the request.

Once it has been approved, editing is closed. If the leave has not started yet you can still withdraw it: Cancel on the row, or Cancel Application on the request itself. Both ask you to confirm and both tell your manager.

A declined request cannot be edited or reused. Apply again with the dates you want.

There is nothing you can do to a request for leave that has already started. Speak to your manager.

Your calendar

The My Calendar tab puts the same requests on a month grid, coloured by leave type, with a legend underneath. It is the view for spotting that you have booked the same week twice, or that you have taken nothing since March.

Double-click a day to start a request with that date filled in. Double-click one of your own bars to open that request, if it is still one you can change.

Where a week has more than three overlapping bars, the ones that do not fit are counted as "+2 more" in the corner of the week rather than drawn.

How many days you have left

On the dashboard. Annual Leave, Sick Leave and Family Leave each show the days available and the days taken, and Your Annual Leave Usage splits the annual figure into a bar so you can see the shape of it.

Those are the only three types with a balance. Maternity, study, unpaid, absenteeism and other leave can be requested, but E·BIZI ESS holds no running total for them.

Annual leave accrues as you work, so the number climbs each month rather than starting the year full. Days belonging to a pay period that has not started yet are excluded, so the figure is what you can take today.

Your entitlement

How many days a year you are set up for is on your Personal Details screen, under Leave Entitlements, along with the period it applies to. See your personal details.

What the law gives you, which is not always the same as what your contract gives you, is in BCEA leave entitlements.

The balance has not moved

An approved request is a decision, not a deduction. Your balance changes when your employer records those days against a payroll month, which usually happens when they run that month's payroll. So an approval in the middle of the month and a balance that only drops at month end is normal.

If the days never come off, or the number looks wrong in either direction, E·BIZI ESS cannot correct it. Ask whoever runs your payroll to check the leave they have captured for you.
