What you need before you start

You can add employees and see what a payroll will cost you with almost nothing in hand. You need more before you can pay anyone or submit to SARS.

To add employees and run the numbers

Per person: their full name, an ID number, a job title and what you pay them. That is enough for E·BIZI Pay to work out PAYE and UIF and show you a payslip.

Their bank details are also required on the employee form, because that is what the payment file is built from.

To pay people

Your company bank account, which you set up when you first activated E·BIZI Pay. Salaries are paid from that account, and the bank file you download is built against it.

If you skipped it, see set up your apps.

To submit to SARS

Your PAYE reference, and your UIF and SDL references if they apply. These are optional in E·BIZI Pay, so nothing stops you working without them, but the Processing dashboard will tell you a submission is blocked until they are there.

If you have not registered as an employer yet, the guide on registering as an employer with SARS covers getting a PAYE reference. UIF and SDL usually come with it.

What you do not need

You do not need last year's payroll, a tax certificate, or your accountant. You can add one employee, look at the payslip, and decide whether this is for you.

If you are moving to E·BIZI Pay partway through a tax year, you will want each person's year-to-date figures to hand, so their tax works out correctly over the remaining months. E·BIZI Pay has a place to enter those on the employee form.
